Through its HEAR US grant, the African American Family and Cultural Center provided trauma‑informed substance use and mental health services to 395 additional individuals from impoverished BIPOC communities.
All staff received training in culturally responsive care, outreach materials were translated to reflect local languages, and 22 peer leaders were trained who directly served those 395 individuals. The project reduced stigma, increased help‑seeking and peer mentorship, and built a sustainable, culturally affirming foundation for healing and community voice.
