A Hopeful Encounter achieved its greatest success through the launch of the “Be the Light: Understanding and Overcoming” community event—a powerful gathering designed to spark open conversations about mental health and reduce stigma in the Hmong community.
This event was so successful that A Hopeful Encounter expanded it into a quarterly series, transforming it into a cornerstone of community healing. Through dance, singing and storytelling, each gathering created a culturally resonant space for youth and families to explore emotional well‑being, share personal experiences and learn how to support one another.
Reaching more than 3,500 youth and family members, the “Be the Light” campaign turned awareness into sustained engagement that fostered hope, connection and collective healing.
