The Great Communities Collaborative (GCC) has transitioned to a new home at The Center at Sierra Health Foundation, positioning the pooled-fund collaborative for its next phase of growth and impact.
For more than 20 years, GCC has brought major regional and national funders, community organizations and public partners together to advance equitable, community-driven solutions across housing, transportation, land use, climate resilience and racial equity in the Bay Area.

As GCC’s new fiscal sponsor, The Center will provide values-aligned infrastructure and stewardship to support the collaborative’s continued evolution. The partnership builds on The Center’s commitment to inclusive economic development, including through the Community Economic Mobilization Initiative (CEMI), which supports nonprofits and tribal partners across California in strengthening community power and directing public investments toward meaningful, lasting change.

“Welcoming the Great Communities Collaborative to The Center reflects our belief that inclusive economic development requires deep partnership, sustainable infrastructure and the ability to align public, private and philanthropic resources around community priorities,” said Chet P. Hewitt, president and CEO of Sierra Health Foundation and The Center. “Through our fiscal sponsorship of GCC, and through initiatives like CEMI, we are helping build the capacity, relationships and coordinated action needed to pursue economic justice in underinvested communities and beyond across California.”

The Center is honored to support GCC’s next chapter and to partner with the funders, advocates and community leaders who continue to advance a more just and connected region.
