Youth and Community PopUps

Project Background

Established in January 2019, Youth and Community PopUps provide Sacramento youth and their families with fun community-building activities, led by community partners in the city’s under-resourced neighborhoods.

PopUps are funded by the City of Sacramento, managed by The Center at Sierra Health Foundation and operated by 24 community partner organizations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the program includes virtual events.

The Economic Mobility Program is integrated as a critical component of the PopUps program to increase workforce development opportunities for youth. It includes a Youth Employment Leadership Institute serving youth hired by the diverse community-based organizations that host the events. The Institute prepares the youth employees for the workplace and equips them with knowledge and transferable skills.
