The San Joaquin Valley Health Fund Policy Committee is a volunteer group of more than 40 leaders from the current 90 grantee partner organizations. They have come together to provide a unified voice to advocate for health and racial equity and social justice in the San Joaquin Valley through legislation, policy and systems change.
In 2018, the Policy Committee joined with a group of elected officials from the San Joaquin Valley to found the Leadership Executive Committee. Together, they deliberated on a set of recommendations for a policy platform. The platform includes priorities in the areas of immigration, health, education, environment and land use planning. The resulting framework, known as the I-HEEL Platform, elevates the needs of the San Joaquin Valley and is shared at the annual Equity on the Mall rally and during testimonials and meetings with legislators. Each year, the Policy Committee and the Executive Leadership Committee review and update the policy platform in light of state and national developments in order to remain relevant to the most pressing issues facing the San Joaquin Valley.
The Policy Committee meets monthly via video or phone conference. Contact Program Officer Socorro Santillan for more information.
