The San Joaquin Valley Health Fund Policy Committee is a volunteer group of leaders from grantee partner organizations. They come together to provide a unified voice to advocate for health and racial equity and social justice in the San Joaquin Valley through legislation, policy and systems change.
Each year, the Policy Committee and the Executive Leadership Committee review and update the policy platform in light of state and national developments in order to remain relevant to the most pressing issues facing the San Joaquin Valley.
In 2018, the Policy Committee joined with a group of elected officials from the San Joaquin Valley to found the Leadership Executive Committee. Together, they deliberated on a set of recommendations for a policy platform. The platform included priorities in the areas of immigration, health, education, environment and land use planning. The resulting framework, known as the I-HEEL Platform, elevated the needs of the San Joaquin Valley and was shared at the annual Equity on the Mall rally and during testimonials and meetings with legislators.
See the Policy Platform web page to access the current and previous documents.
The Policy Committee meets monthly via video or phone conference. Contact Director of Regional Programs Ellen Braff-Guajardo for more information.
