Positive Youth Justice Initiative: Young Women’s Freedom Center – San Francisco

Background

The Young Women’s Freedom Center is a membership-based leadership development and advocacy organization led by cis and trans women and girls of color who have grown up in poverty, been incarcerated, and lived and worked on the streets. They are organizing young women to break open the pipeline that is carrying them in a current that will drown them. They believe that poor, system-involved, cis and trans women and girls of color are best equipped to develop and guide solutions in their own lives and in the systems that keep them from living free.
